Recomended Drivers

TipTup

One of the best drivers for both novice and elite players. TipTup has the best handling, even in a hovercraft.

Pipsy

Pipsy has the same stats as TipTup, only through a femitive perspection.

Adventure Two (Mirror Courses)

To access Adventure Two, you need to beat Wizpig in Future Funland and in the Overworld, get the TT and Wizpig amulets, and get golds in all four Trophy races. Adventure Two is the same full set of courses from Adventure One, except they're all mirrored.

Code Access

To access all of the codes, you need to beat entire adventure (one). After beating Wizpig (in either the first or second race), you'll open up the credits. Watch the credits cut-scenes at the end and before it finishes, a code, like "FreeFruit" will appear. Go to Options and enter them into the Magic Code List. Each time you beat Wizpig in either the first or second race, you will see a new code given. There are tons of them!

Free Fruit

By beating Wizpig the second time, and after watching the screen credits, at the end you'll see the password, "FreeFruit." Enter this in to start with 10 bananas.

Future Funland

To access Future Funland, the fifth world, you must place first in all of the Trophy Races and acquire the Wizpig Amulet. You don't need the TT amulet to access the fifth world, but once you're in Future Funland, you'll need it to race Wizpig again. Drive to the Trophy sign (near the Lighthouse) and park in front in of it to gain access. You will see your character enter into the lighthouse, which then turns into a rocketship and blasts off to space.

TT Amulet

To access the TT room in World 5, containing the second race with Wizpig, you need to get all of the TT keys in each of the four worlds. The keys are in located in Ancient Lake, Dino Domain; Snowball Valley, Snowflake Mountain; Crescent Island, Sherbet Island; and Boulder Canyon, Dragon Forest.

Wizpig Amulet

To piece together the full Wizpig amulet, you must race and beat each of the four bosses twice.

Play as Drumstick

To play as Drumstick find all of the amulets, the WizPig and the TT amulets. Once you've done this, squash a frog in the central area (place with the red spot).

Play as TT

You've really got to work to get TT as a playable character. You must go to TT before every single race and switch on Time Trial. You'll then need to beat the TT ghost. Once you've beaten TT's time in every race, you'll be able to select TT from the character selection screen. Note, however, that simply beating the game's best times on Tracks mode does nothing--you must beat TT in Time Trial (his best times are listed with the credits) in Adventure Mode.

Turbo Start

As in so many N64 racing games, Diddy's got a Turbo Start (like Wave Race, Mario Kart 64). Just after the high-voiced announcer says "Get Ready" and the words start to fade, press the acclereration button (A). You'll get a mighty boost. The boost is more powerful and lasts longer the later you enact it. But be careful not to start it too late or it won't work at all.

Super Turbo Boosts

When going through a speed ring (in a plane), a speed pyramid (in a hovercraft or plane), or over a zipper (in a car, hovercraft, or grounded plane), let your finger off of the accelerator before you hit it and you will get a green boost, which is better than the normal purple. The same rule applies when using a single, double, or triple turbo balloon; let off the accelerator. Also, when the announcer says "Get Ready", depending on when you press the accelerator button, you will get a red (weak), blue (strong), or no turbo boost.

Tricky Trick in Bolder Canyon

When you reach the hanging bell, turn over.(facing the wrong way) Look at the other players screen box. Right before the other player reaches the draw bridge, hit the bell. The bridge will rise while the other player will fall into the river, then leave the other player there and leave. It will give you a head start while the other player is still stuck in the river.

T.T.Times

You must go to tracks, and turn time trials on. Then you must beat a certain time (not the DKR time) in the vehicle used in the regular game mode. (Example : Hot Top volcano : Use the plane, not the hovercraft) Beat the time, and you should race T.T.'s ghost. Beat his ghost in every level and you will get him as a playable character. Here are the times.

Be The Cronomaster

TT the clock is a playable character! To play as him you must beat him in time trials on EVERY race. He is considered the BEST playable character in the game!

Key Locations

Dino Domain Key

This key is located in the track called "Ancient Lake." When you start, go straight. Look straight ahead, you can see the key located on a ramp right in front of you, in between 2 Stonehenge-like monuments.

Snowflake Mountain Key

This key is located in the track called "Snowball Valley." When you start, don't go. Just make an immediate left and go through the path in the mountains. Then take another right and you should see the key in an alcove in the side of the mountain.

Sherbet Island Key

This key is located in the track called "Crescent Island." When you start, take the left path. After the second zipper, head left even more, into the water. Go and look at the side of the mountain straight ahead. There should be an alcove with the key in it.

Dragon Forest Key

This key is located in the track called "Boulder Canyon." Get to the part of the track where you see a bell hanging from the ceiling. Get three blue balloons. Then turn around and face the bell from the "wrong way" then hit the bell. The drawbridge in front of you should raise. Use your Level 3 speedburst and race up the raising drawbridge and get the key. (Make sure it is a 3x burst, and be sure to jump right when you reach the top of the bridge.)

Beating the Bosses

There are two keys to beating the game's bosses. First, always start off with a turbo boost. Second, always hug the inner curve of the track. More specifically...

Triceratops

To beat the trike, the only tip I can offer is always hug the inner curve of the mountain's track. If there's an obstacle in the way, circumvent it then return to the inner curve. The trike always runs along the outer/middle curve, thereby giving you an advantage. It's recommended that you get some blue balloons along the way, but save them for the end of the race.

Walrus

Probably the easiest boss, you only really need a turbo boost at the start and a couple of blue balloons along the way. If the walrus does get ahead of you, don't panic. Chances are that the slope of the course will carry you past him again. If not, get a red balloon and blast him. If that still doesn't carry you past him, get two blue balloons and save them for the end of the track. Once you see the home stretch, use them and blast past the blue aquatic mammal.

Octopus

Without a doubt the hardest boss (putting even Wizpig to shame), this guy's just a pain in the butt. Get the most powerful speed boost at the start and memorize where he drops his mines/bubbles. Avoid the obstacles, the octopus, and his weapons, collecting three blue balloons along the way. Save these for the end of the race...you'll need them. Once you get into the home strecth on lap three, use the blue balloons and sail past the eight-tentacled freak. Chances are you'll only beat him by a hair, so don't panic. Other helpful hints...don't make extremely sharp turns using the hovercraft...drive on land whenever possible...if you ever lose sight of the octopus, restart the race, because you'll have little or no chance of ever catching up.

Dragon

As with the Triceratops, hug the inner curve of the course. However, the dragon will inevitably pass you, so grab a red balloon or two and blast him out of the sky when he does. On the last lap, grab a blue balloon (or even better, three) and use it on the home stretch. Memorize where he leaves the floating fire and avoid it at all costs. After that Octopus in Sherbet Island, this guy really isn't that big a deal.

Beating Wizpig

The head honcho isn't that tough once you've gotten to know his courses. Of course, that doesn't mean that a few tips won't help.

Wizpig on foot

The rain in this track creates incredibly annoying puddles which slow you down beyond belief. Always avoid the puddles and never stray from the track...even a few seconds of driving on the grass might prove fatal. The key to beating the Wiz this first time is memorizing the placement of the zippers on the track. Without the zippers, you have absolutely no hope of defeating the giant hog. The first zipper is no problem, but it takes practice to use the rest to your advantage. Before hitting the second zipper, position yourself such that you face the thin bridge you'll be heading towards. After passing over the zipper, immediately cut it off by hitting the A button. Hit the next zipper, aiming for the fourth. The fourth, fifth and sixth zippers are the most improtant on the track. Before passing over the fourth, aim for the fifth zipper. You should pass over the fourth and be propelled towards the fifth which will blast you towards the sixth. The sixth zipper is the clincher--it's the one that will win the race for you. If you can hit every zipper on every lap, you'll win without a problem. Remember...practice makes perfect, so it'll behoove you to try the track out several times before getting serious. For best results, use Pipsy, despite the fact that she's probably the most annoying character. Her handling and ability to turn on a dime will be invaluable. Should you ever lose sight of Wizzy, immediately restart, because you'll have lost all hope.

Wizpig on his rocket

The Wiz is much easier the second time you face him. That doesn't go to say, however, that he's a cakewalk. Precision and quick thinking are what will win this race. Get a turbo boost at the start and avoid the lasers, boulders and stalagmites. Along the way, grab the two red balloons in the two arches immediately prior to the large area with the Wizpig head cut into the mountainside. Once you enter this area, characterized by a psychadelic purple floor, Wizpig will probably pass you. As soon as he does, fire the heat-seeking missile, then delve beneath the chin on the gigantic Wizpig head sculpture. Take the corners tightly and you should come out ahead before you enter the long tunnel with the triplasers. Hug the inner curve of the tunnel. You'll notice that Wizpig hits one of the triplasers, slowing him down for an invaluable split second. Avoid the stalagmites and grab the yellow balloon just prior to the laser-filled chamber containing the Wiz's throne. Activate the shields just as you enter the room and they should run out just as you exit. If you miss the yellow balloon, fly to the top of the room and you should avoid the lasers. Unless absolutely necessary avoid any other balloons along the course because they'll just slow you down. If you are slowed down for any reason (i.e. hit by a laser, bump into a wall) twice, restart the race. You'll be making a lot of sharp turns, so be careful not to initiate a barrel roll or you'll be screwed. For best results, TipTup is probably your best bet, because Pipsy takes the turns too tightly.

Shortcuts

Fossil Canyon

This one is obvious. At the fork in the road, take a left. It's a bit shorter and safer.

Dino Domain Boss

This shortcut is on the boss of Dino Domain(the triceratops). About halfway up the mountain, after the place where you go past a large pillar on the right with two balloons, you should see some bushes on the right. Behind them is a tunnel that will almost assure that you'll win.

Frosty Village 1

In the part where you go past several large pillars, go either left or right offroad. You must make use of the three Zippers of both paths.

Frosty Village 2

You must use the hovercraft to take this shortcut without losing speed. Near the end, you'll see a large outcropping with three ledges on it on the right, surrounded by a lake. Underneath it is a tunnel. Go through it.

Snowball Valley 1

Like Fossil Canyon, take the left path at the fork. It's faster.

Snowball Valley 2

The other shortcut is not really a shortcut. Instead, you must grab one of the shield powerups before the snowball area. Use it to sail right tshield powerups before the snowball area. Use it to sail right through the snow

Crescent Island 1

Right before the tunnel at the beginning, you'll see a path on the left. Follow it to get a magnet balloon and get ahead.

Crescent Island 2

Using the hovercraft, go left around the pirate ship to find a shorter tunnel.

Crescent Island 3

Or, you can go on the ship and go on the right path next to the tunnel. Then hop right to go through the hole.

Crescent Island 4

The last shortcut here is found after the pirate ship. On the final turn before the end, make a powerslide/hop right to go around the pillar on the right. It's a great way to win at the last second(and it contains a Silver Coin).

Whale Bay

Use the whale near the beginning to jump over the pirate's ship and get a magnet powerup and jump ahead of you foes. Pirate's Lagoon: Near the end, use the Zipper to jump the ramp and get a Turbo powerup.

Windmill Plains

Go through the windmills at the beginning. Both of them contain a Zipper and a Magnet powerup.

Boulder Canyon

In the area after the indoor waterfall, you will see a red balloon on the left and a green one on the right, leading to the rest of the track. But grab the red one and you'll find a hidden tunnel behind it. It contains two coins and is shorter.

Greenwood Village

Near the beginning, you'll go through a village area. You should see a well. Hit the brakes as you approach it and drive over it. You should fall down to a tunnel with a Zipper in it. This is the shortcut.

Haunted Woods

At the fountain in the village area, take a right. It looks longer, but it gets you to the tunnel a bit faster(and it contains a Silver Coin).

Sherbet Island Boss/Boulder Canyon

In both of these races, you should gain some speed if you hop over the logs with the hovercraft at the right angle. Be careful, if you go at the wrong angle, you'll crash into the log and lose speed!

Ancient Lake 1/Any Course

If you have the Plane/Hovercraft try going off the Course along the sides, Sometimes you can gain a place or two jus t by doing this!!

Ancient lake 2

When you get to the first Zipper hit it and head right across the grass to gain a Blue Balloon then you should be able to head straight to get another Blue Balloon and then use them to Zoom right underneath the huge green Dinosaur

Fossil Canyon 1

Use the Boost on the left before the Bridge, this makes it easy for you to get a Silver coin and you'll gain some placege. Also if you hit it perfect your headed right for the Tunnel!!!

Jungle Falls

If you have the Plane do this: After the Bridge go up high to go into a small tunnel containing a Rainbow Balloon then keep up and look down by the bones to find another Rainbow balloon!

Hot top Volcano

When you get to the spot where there is a left/right Tunnel go right and stay right! But remember there is a Silver coin in the left side of the tunnel Split!!

EverFrost Peak

If your in the Plane watch for mounds of snow along the side of the track. Some have Banana's and 1 has a Rainbow Balloon!!

Walrus cove 1

After the third tunnel go up the mounds of snow to get alot of Bananas and one has a red Balloon. The first one is on the right then the next is on the left.

Walrus cove 2

When you go across the part of the track where ice is running through it (Near the end) look to the left, there's a small trail there. Take it and be sure to get the boost to race Ahead of other Racers.

Fossil Canyon 2

About halfway down the track, where that dinosaur is crossing the road, you'll notice a lake and a Zipper. Build up your speed and hit the Zipper to jump across the lake!

Treasure Caves 1

If you're racing in a plane, this large tunnel on the cliffside is an obvious shortcut. You'll see it just a bit past the starting line.

Treasure Caves 2

Using your turbo powerups, boost across the toxic gases inside the cave. You not only gain some ground, you'll also hit a couple Zippers easily.

Boulder Canyon 2

Using Geno55's technique to get the key, hit the bell but don't turn around for the key. Doing this knocks other racers into the moat(unless you're in 8th....)!

Greenwood Village Longcut!

Although the tunnel to the left in the area halfway through the track looks shorter, it isn't. However, it contains a neccesary Silver Coin. It's a good way to confuse racers. Nice try, Nintendo.

Spacedust Alley

At the fork of the road, (splitted by a rock) take the left. Right after the rock, turn right. Keep turning right until you reach the zipper on the right of the second rock. Go on it and gain speed.(it contains a silver coin)

Star City

While this isn't as helpful as the last one was, it still saves time. You must be racing in a plane or hovercraft. In the city area, fly or hop over the spinning rings. This will cut across the track.

Spaceport Alpha 1

As you come out of the ventilation shaft, make a break- powerslide to the left to catch a hidden Zipper. This will boost you into the trench.

Spaceport Alpha 2

This is very similar to the second "shortcut" in Snowball Valley. While flying into the "Death Star Trench" area, you'll notice two yellow balloons, one on each side. Grab one and activate it in the trench to avoid being hit by the lasers. Hint: The shield lasinto the "Death Star Trench" area, you'll notice two yellow ballo

Haunted Woods 2

If you are using a hovercraft, try these two shortcuts. First, the hovercraft can go across the fountain at the beginning.

Haunted Woods 3

Also, try this. As you hit th final Zipper at the end, jump up. You should jump super high across the start line and over other racers. Overworld/Plane and Hover Challenges: While racing against Taj in the hovercraft or plane, you will enter the "Snowflake Mountain" area. You can cut across the snow for an easy shortcut.(And, if you can survive the rest of the course, an easy balloon!)

COURSES

BATTLE

Icicle Pyrimid

4 layers of ice and plenty of red, green, and yellow ballons for you to defeat other racers. Get hit four times and your out.

Darkwater Beach

An open paridise, much less confusing than the maze of Icicle Pyrimid. Again, four hits and your out.

SPECIAL

Smokey Castle

Simply put 10 bananas in your chest to win

Fire Mountain

Hatch 3 Dinosaur eggs in your nest to win.

TIPS

ICICLE PYRIMID

offense

When you begin accelerate and grab a balloon from the middle pile, before someone else does. If you get a mine, place it somewhere it can't be avoided, such as right behind a balloon. Or, try putting it in a group of balloons, where unarmed players may go. If you get a missile, save it for an upgrade. Unless you have keen precision (Or your right up another drivers butt) these won't be too efective. Once you get a heat seaker however, hold the trigger for Crosshairs to appear on a driver in range. To change target simply hold in the trigger. DO NOT release until your sure they can't evade it. It's easy to dodge a missile by driving in circles, or putting up a shield.

defense

One advantage of Icicle Pyrimid is that its maze like structure makes it easy for you to lose potential enemies. If you find someone is following you, burn up the track and get out of there, missiles will hit in open areas. If you can't get away from an attacker with a missile, drive up against a wall. When they fire, keep driving against the wall with your front tilted away and your back covered. Hopefully the missile will ram against the wall, since they go staight for the rear of their target.

DARKWATER BEACH

offense

Same rules apply here, but this track is a lot easier to master. When beginning, break up from the pack and quickly find some red ballons. These are the easiest way of taking out enemies. Its helpful to look at the map in this one. Allign the point of your figure with the any other, but make sure they are not up one of the two hills or behind obstructions. Fire with your homing missiles. Nice disuading words promote your character when you hit like, " From TipTup with Love," or "Do not open until X-Mas," and "I hit you AGAIN?" Another deceptive way of killing enemies to hide mines in the water. Collect a green balloon and put it next to any other balloon, but in the water. Their to easy to see on land.

defense

Since this area is generally open, it's a good idea to stick close to the yellow balloon in the course. Also, if you drive up one of the hills, other opponents have a harder time getting a clear shot at you. You can also ride up against the walls and dodge missiles like in Icicle pyrimid. Another life saver is to stay near land, and scope out the water. Mines will end your fun all too quickly if you don't.

SMOKEY CASTLE

offense

The harder one of the "Collect & Win" type game. Don't waste your time only getting 1 banana at a time, you can get 2 instead. Also, be sure to have a missile handy. When you begin just fall off the top instead of driving down, to save time, make sure to turn left slightly. Then immeadiately turn to the left opening. Go through and get the banana there. Then turn right and collect another banana. Go back to the SAME OPENING you came through. To your right will be your ramp, saving time also. Drive up and to your box, putting in the bananas. Repeat the pattern. However it may take longer for the bananas to reappear. Still take the same route, just go farther in search of the yellow yummies. An annoying move to do is to get a heat sinking missile and wait near another's box. When they come up, or anyone, blast em. Get their bananas, then drive to your box.

defense

Other players can blast you and steal your bananas just as though you can to them. To play it safe, get shields instead of missiles. There are several yellow balloons for you to choose from. Shields prevent damage from most sources, allowing you to get each banana safely. Also defense can be fun. Try blasting a missile, at a sharp angle, at an enemie just befor they cross one of the drawbridges. If you knock them in it may take several minutes for them to find their way out, buying you more time.

FIRE MOUNTAIN

offense

When starting rocket over to the main lava pool in the middle of the mountain and grab one of the three eggs. DON"T try to fire a missile when you have an egg. You'll lose both an egg and a missile. Pull back and fly up and left until you see your nest. Fly in and push the trigger to drop the egg in. Land and guard untill you egg hatches. Then fly around others nest and try and steal their's. This is aggrivating to other opponents, but more experienced ones also guard, so watch out. After a couple minutes, swoop down to see if any egg from the central pool has returned.

defense

Defense is a key roll in this game, if you aren't watching your nest, others are. They'll take your quickly too, very frustraighting. Get missiles and stay in your nest when you have a hatching egg. Fire at will if others are coming, knock them down and raise your score. Also if anyone else has a third egg recently put in, ignore everything and take it. If one of your eggs are stolen the one you take can replace it.

Challenge1: Fire Mountain, Dino Domain

The aim here is to hatch three baby dinosaurs before anyone else does. Swoop down and collect your first egg from the center of the arena. Hurry back and put the egg in your nest. Your nest will have a picture of you above it.

Hints

In this challenge you have great opprotunities to get all of the eggs. If you see some one with two eggs and the third one is flashing go to thier nest and take the egg. I have found this to be a great way to collect eggs and win.

Challenge2: Icicle Pyramid, Snowflake Mountain

If it's straightforward all-out battle you are looking for, this course might be more your style. Race around the frosty corridors of the pyramid, seeking out your three opponents and letting loose any power-ups you find!

Hints

In this challenge all you have to do to win is to collect homing missles. The homing missles will help you greatly. You just have to fire them in the direction of the other players and bingo. To protect yourself yo might want to pick up sheilds just in case you need it. You can also get bombs when you get them lay them by power-ups so when other players go for the power-ups KABOOOOOM!

Challenge3: Darkwater Beach, Sherbert Island

This is the second rules-free battle on the usually trainquill coast of Sherbert Island. It's not trainquill now as the four of you thunder around trying to pick up power-ups to blast your opponents out of the running.

Hints

This challenge is the exact same thing as the last one. All you have to do is collect homing missles. You just have to shoot the missle in the direction of your opponent and bingo. Also try to pick up sheilds to protect yourself from the other players. When you pick up a bomb lay it next to a power-up. In short follow the same guidelines as the last challenge.

Challenge4: Smokey Castle, Dragon Forest

This challenge is simalar to the Fire Mountain challenge except this time you are collecting bananas. You just have to fill your chest with 10 bananas. Again you will have an area with your piture over it. That is where you deposit your bananas.

Hints

In this challenge you can't steal the other players bananas. Instead you have to collect the bananas yoursef. But you should get homing missles to blast the opponenets away and steal their bananas.
